It was the first time in my life that all the good circumstances came together to finally have a designer peace in my hands. I own a Gucci belt, it is mine!
Every time I saw it in a blog, in a picture, in a magazine, on a friend, I thought, this belt has to be mine. I guess the proverb ‘think with your mind and you will have it in your hand’ it’s true.
I have always been a fan of vintage pieces, I got some nice items from my mum, who knew since I was a little girl about my interest in fashion. But some beautiful statement pieces that she owned got lost forever. I tend to hunt vintage clothes in Australia’s second hand stores, or from friends who know my love for the shoes, clothes and accessories from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. But to get a designer piece is not that easy, they are like little treasures that pass from hand to hand only in special circumstances and times.
The Gucci belt is very old, a dark blue marine very small, that doesn’t give more that a round and half to my waist. I found it in a second-hand-French webpage. I didn’t hesitate, I wanted it for me, to wear it with everything, for everything, for the rest of my life.
I would have to wait a lot of time to buy another vintage designer piece. I will be going for a pair of shoes this time, probably Gucci, the brand of my dreams. Nobody has the creativity and imagination of Alessandro Michele, who turns every piece into a dream come true.
And some day, maybe my daughter will be interested in fashion, and in pre-loved stuff, and she’d love this pieces, as I actually do, and will take care of them, and will love them, and will pass them on to another vintage lover, and so on.
